ADDICTION

The module on Addiction was introduced by Rev. Sr. Cassie, O.L.A.  Her approach was the experiential approach. This is, presenting the understanding of the concept from the perspective of the victim.

Thus, she began by saying “in society, we are judged by our behaviour and also related to as such. Addiction is only part of us. We are human and a work of God’s art made out of goodness”. In sharing the experience of victims, she re-echoed their shared experiences and summed it up with this statement, “ I did not become ADDICTED to alcohol because I was bad. I became addicted when I discovered that it blocked out my PAIN”.
